Palace Cinema restaurant, Huntly Street, Inverness. Opened 21st November 1938 with 'Hard to Get' starring Dick Powell, after a ceremony performed by Provost Hugh Mackenzie. The Palace once seated 1,023 patrons. It closed in 1963 and became a bingo hall until it was finally demolished in 2010. *

Colonel R.D Maclagan CBE, MC served in the Seaforth Highlanders from 1933 to 1960. The photograph was taken while he was commanding 11th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders TA in about 1958. On the amalgamation of the Seaforth and Cameron Highlanders in 1961 to form the Queen's Own Highlanders, he became Regimental Secretary at Cameron Barracks, Inverness until 1978. At one time was the army amateur boxing champion.

Brigadier Kenneth James Garner Garner-Smith OBE. He joined the Seaforth Highlanders in 1927 and retired as a Brigadier in 1957. He lived at Aird House, Inverness and was a Burgh Councillor for 11 years. Married Mary Jean Macdonald (1914-2013) on 4th July 1933 at St. Marks Church, London. He died in 1994. Parents of Mary-Jean, Caroline and Jamie.
