Palace Cinema foyer, Huntly Street, Inverness. Opened 21st November 1938 with 'Hard to Get' starring Dick Powell, after a ceremony performed by Provost Hugh Mackenzie. The nurse figurine in the foyer is a charity collection box in aid of the Royal Northern Infirmary. The Palace once seated 1,023 patrons. It closed in 1963 and became a bingo hall until it was finally demolished in 2010. *

Francis James Chalmers (1881-1956) was born in Surrey, a twin with sister Margaret. His fathers motor vehicle business established in 1850 (J. Chalmers and Sons Ltd), traded from the Redhill Garage and could accommodate up to 50 cars. They also held the Ford franchise. He married Christina Ann MacMillan in 1919. She died in Reigate in 1922 and he later married Constance Paterson (1902-1975) of Inverness in 1936, the daughter of famous photographer Andrew Paterson (1877-1948).

Mackinlays & Birnie Ltd. Glen Albyn Distillery, Muirtown Basin, Inverness. Established by Inverness Provost James Sutherland in 1846. Closed during 1917-1919 and used as a US naval base, until acquired by Mackinlays & Birnie (of Glen Mhor) in 1920. Closed down in 1983 and knocked down in 1988 for a supermarket development.*

Building and construction of Caledonia House, now the Penta Hotel in Academy Street, Inverness. Originally the site of the Empire Theatre which was demolished in 1971, Caledonia House first appears in the Valuation Rolls of 1973-74. DE Shoes occupied the corner site for many years, next to the rear car park entrance of the Cummings Hotel (which is now the Hush Lounge Bar). The double decker bus is parked outside the building once occupied by Teddy Mountain.*
