Caption: | Keith Henderson (1883-1982) was educated at Marlborough College and studied art at the Slade, and in Paris. Initially Henderson worked principally as a portrait painter moving on to illustration and commercial work. During the First World War he served on the Western Front. After the war he travelled widely, including Africa and South America. He served as an Official War Artist attached to the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He worked in oil and watercolours, designed murals and posters, produced advertising work and wrote and illustrated several books. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society, Royal Watercolour Society and elsewhere. Examples of his work are held in many public collections including those in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Preston and Worthing. He died in South Africa in 1982. Courtesy John and Aithne Barron. |
