Some further information on this photo from Tain and District Museum's website - their caption reads "This picture of the Smithy at Culnaha was taken sometime during WWI. The blacksmith (holding the horse's hoof) was called Holmes. His son is to his right and the three girls are his grand-daughters. The soldier was from one of two big army camps nearby and the pony was from the YMCA hut (?)."

This photo appears in the booklet 'The Parish of Nigg' published c1966, compiled by Nigg WRI. The original caption for this photo reads "The old smithy at Culnaha during the 1914-18 war." SHPA reply: Thanks Lynn for the identification.
