Travelling groups of musicians, showmen and entertainers were a common sight in the streets of Inverness during the 1880s-90s. Performing bears were a regular attraction and always drew a crowd. This bear is standing in Academy Street outside the old Rose Street Foundry building (now a bar) with house numbers 92-94 in the background, c1895. *

Captain Ernest Edmund (Ted) Fresson OBE, (1891-1963). Fresson formed Highland Airways Limited in 1933. He is standing before his Monospar ST4 at RAF Turnhouse Aerodrome, Edinburgh in April 1933, before returning to Inverness. The Monospar was registered G-ACEW and was named 'Inverness.' It was built in 1933 and destroyed in a fire at Croydon in 1937.

The Ferry Omnibus. Owned by Mr W. Greig, the 1921 Vulcan (ST1410) was the first bus in Inverness with pneumatic tyres. A note on the side panel indicates its speed was 12 mph. The standing conductor is M. Greig. *

Alexander MacRae of the Inverness Burgh Police, featuring the cap badge showing a camel and elephant (standing on all fours) as supporters for the Inverness Arms. A January 1948 copy of a photo from c1912. Born c1878 he was a Gamekeeper before joining the Police in 1899. Promoted sergeant in 1920, he retired in 1934.
