Petra Graham Mackaskill was the youngest daughter of Malcolm and Mary MacAskill (formerly of Knock House, Sleat, Isle of Skye). Isle of Lewis men. Alexander MacLeod was born around 1900 in a village just outside of Stornoway. A passionate photographer, Alec kept some type of camera (still and motion) close by his side for his entire adult life. The photos in his collection are invariably of family and friends and scenic shots from around Stornoway (possibly Laxdale), travels in the Highlands and around the world. A few of these Highland images from the early 1900s have been submitted to the SHPA archive by his grandson Iain MacLeod of Nova Scotia. #
