Lt.Commander Richardson R.N, HMS Courageous.  Courageous was torpedoed and sunk on Sunday 17th September 1939 by the German submarine U29, going down with more than 500 of her crew. The name Richardson doesn't appear on either the official list of casualties or survivors, indicating that by the start of World War II he had been re-assigned or was no longer in the navy. This photo dates from c1938.

Edward Rosslyn Mitchell (1879-1965). Politician who as Member of Parliament represented the constituency of Paisley in the House of Commons from 1924 to 1929. He sat as a Labour Party MP, but had earlier unsuccessfully stood for the Liberal Party. He stood as Liberal candidate in Buteshire the December 1910 general election. He was Labour candidate for Glasgow Central against Prime Minister Bonar Law at the 1922 general election and the 1923 general election. He was elected the Member of Parliament for Paisley in 1924, beating former Prime Minister HH Asquith. He stood down in 1929. His portrait by Andrew Paterson was exhibited in the 1930s.
