Lady Lawson, Dochfour. The Hon. Victoria Frances Maud Baillie (b.14 March 1899-d.10 January 1931). Daughter of Colonel James Evan Bruce Baillie of Dochfour and Nellie Lisa Bass, Baroness Burton of Burton-on-Trent and of Rangemore. She married Sir Digby Lawson, 2nd Bt. on 2 November 1922. Church Street looking towards Bridge Street. The town clock steeple still exists but the buildings housing McGruther & Marshall and Margaret Macleod Ladies Outfitters are gone, including the alleyway leading to a back entrance of Gellion's Hotel, which is located on Bridge Street. The site is now occupied by Fife Country. The building on the far right is now McEwens of Perth. The clock steeple was erected beside the adjoining Court House and jail in 1791 and rises 45 metres. Gellions is the oldest pub in Inverness, established in 1841.*

Bank Street, Inverness. The central building was used as the headquarters of Inverness District Scouts from 1931 to 1935, being then known as the Maud Lawson Hall, after Lady Maud Lawson of Dochfour, who had been a keen supporter of Scouting. The building was opened on 23rd June 1931 by the Prince of Wales, but was sold due to structural problems only four year later. Before 1931 the building was known as the Royal Halls. The Theatre Royal, on the far right, burned down in 1934, causing a stir in Inverness at the time as people thought it had been predicted by the Brahan Seer who said that when a theatre in Inverness was built between two churches, it would be destroyed by fire. The theatre was situated on the riverside between the Free North Church and the St Columba Church. The building on the far left now houses the Riverside Gallery, and the central building is where CYC is located. Moray House now occupies the site where the Theatre Royal stood.*

Reverend Francis Cronin D.D., Vice Rector of the Scots College, Valladolid, was appointed to St. Mary's Catholic Church in 1918. Dr Cronin interested himself particularly in the cause of Catholic education and served efficiently on the Education Authority and also on the School Management Committee. By his frequent and systematic visitation he endeared himself to his parishioners, while his broad outlook and wide experience rendered him an esteemed member of the community. In 1928 he was promoted to the important charge of Rector of the National Seminary at Blairs.
