The last ship to bear that name before the current Pembroke, served as Flagship to the Commander in Chief Fleet and was a 101-gun screw propelled first rate. Launched in 1859 as HMS Duncan she was renamed HMS Pembroke on her transferral to harbour service in 1890, renamed HMS Tenedos II in 1905 and sold in 1910.
