Alexander MacRae of the Inverness Burgh Police, featuring the cap badge showing a camel and elephant (standing on all fours) as supporters for the Inverness Arms. A January 1948 copy of a photo from c1912. Born c1878 he was a Gamekeeper before joining the Police in 1899. Promoted sergeant in 1920, he retired in 1934. William David Malcolm. Born c1880 and died in 1952 aged 72. He was a hired horse and cab driver for Macrae & Dick, and the driver for Doctor John Wilson Black of 46 Academy Street. It was Doctor George England Kerr who owned the first car in Inverness, but Doctor Black was not to be outdone. He sent William Malcolm to Glasgow for driving lessons, bought a car, and Malcolm became his personal chauffeur. William Malcolm married Catherine W. McMillan (c1907-1992).
