John was born a twin to Peter who died at 3 months. George Stewart (second right) is the only surviving sibling (2012). Unsure why the negative envelope has the address as Kessock Avenue. The Stewart family lived in Maclennan Crescent, Inverness.

Reverend Murdo Smith (1877-1936). Born in Leurbost, Isle of Lewis, he was a teacher and missionary, before entering the ministry in 1922. Married to Margaret Matheson and had four children, Peggy, Dolina, Kenneth and Morag. He was also a bard, and a collection of his Gaelic poetry was published in 2014.
