Alexander Paterson (1877-1955), Saltburn, Invergordon c.1923. Paterson was Managing Director A&G Paterson of Invergordon Ltd, wood merchants; son of William Grindlay Paterson (see 24408) chairman of the same company. Alexander was married to Edith Barbara Forsyth (born 1870) at Balintraid House, Easter Ross. Their children were Leslie, William and Mary Paterson.

The last ship to bear that name before the current Pembroke, served as Flagship to the Commander in Chief Fleet and was a 101-gun screw propelled first rate. Launched in 1859 as HMS Duncan she was renamed HMS Pembroke on her transferral to harbour service in 1890, renamed HMS Tenedos II in 1905 and sold in 1910.  HMS Pembroke, the Royal Naval Barracks at Chatham, were opened in 1903.
