From The Times, Monday, 4th September, 1939:  MR. ANTHONY WILLS and MISS LESLIE MELVILLE. 'Owing to the international situation, the marriage took place quietly on Saturday in St. Andrews Cathedral, Inverness, of the Hon. Frederick Anthony Hamilton Wills, eldest son of Lord and Lady Dulverton, and Miss Judith Betty Leslie Melville, eldest daughter of the Hon. Ian and Mrs. Leslie Melville. The Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness (Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church) officiated, assisted by the Very Rev. A. A. D. Mackenzie, Provost of Inverness Cathedral. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a brown two-piece suit. There were no bridesmaids. The Hon. E. R. H. Wills (brother of the bridegroom) was best man. A reception was afterwards held in the Station Hotel by the Hon. Mrs. Leslie Melville.'  The marriage ended in divorce in 1961. Anthony Wills, the 2nd Baron Dulverton b.1915-d.1992. Judith Betty Leslie-Melville b.1916.

Sir John Barbirolli, born as Giovanni Battista Barbirolli in London (1899-1970) was a conductor and cellist. Earlier in his career he was Arturo Toscanini's successor as music director of the New York Philharmonic, serving there from 1936 to 1943. He was also chief conductor of the Houston Symphony from 1961 to 1967. In March 1937 the Scottish Orchestra under Barbirolli played in the Empire Theatre in Inverness. The hall was packed. Beethoven and Mozart figured in the presentation and it was reported Barbirolli was delighted with the response of the Inverness audience.

Reverend Francis Cronin D.D., Vice Rector of the Scots College, Valladolid, was appointed to St. Mary's Catholic Church in 1918. Dr Cronin interested himself particularly in the cause of Catholic education and served efficiently on the Education Authority and also on the School Management Committee. By his frequent and systematic visitation he endeared himself to his parishioners, while his broad outlook and wide experience rendered him an esteemed member of the community. In 1928 he was promoted to the important charge of Rector of the National Seminary at Blairs.
